Commitment to local areas

Lavazza Community Engagement is a local area activity program aimed at improving the social, cultural and environmental aspects of local communities. In order to succeed, Lavazza puts in place cooperative relationships within the communities in which it operates.

I luoghi del bello
“I Luoghi del Bello” (“Places of Beauty” in Italian ) is a regeneration project within Turin’s Aurora district that was born out of a partnership between Turin’s Constituency 7, the ASAI, CleanUp, and Tèkhné associations and Torino Spazio Pubblico (Turin’s Public Spaces).

The “I Luoghi del Bello” project promotes strong local roots. A local setting within which Lavazza has proved an integral part for over 120 years. The project involves citizens of various age groups and leverages environmental issues, social integration and relationship building to build bonds between different generations.
Local schoolchildren, the elderly and volunteers from a number of associations have been involved in each of the main initiatives. As part of the numerous projects, participants have upgraded public flowerbeds and introduced plants which offer a suitable environment for butterflies.

With the move to the new “Nuvola” headquarters, Lavazza decided to sell furniture pieces from the old office at symbolic prices, in order to relocate them and avoid waste and disposal that would have had a negative impact on the environment.

The project included more than 3,000 items, ranging from furniture to IT equipment, 70% of which were reallocated.
The proceeds of the sale were donated to local organizations while a further 22 external bodies were given new and used furniture and stationery.
